Cork County Library

Perfect protection that speaks volumes.

The Cork County Library constitutes the second phase of the Cork County Council Civil Campus and forms the headquarters of the national network of 22 Irish libraries, accommodating both the administrative offices and a comprehensive literary archive.

As a result of its low appearance, the 5-storey, L-shaped building blends in quietly between the County Hall Tower to the west, the Carrahigrohane Road to the north and the River Curragheen to the south.

The facade combines the aesthetics of high-quality glass louvres with a wealth of advantages that support the functional requirements of a library building, GIG having provided 600 m² of perfect sun protection in the form of vertical, rotatable glass lamellas.
